A man from Pumula South in Bulawayo allegedly sent a nephew of a 73-year-old woman to steal her money amounting to $5000 which he used some of it to buy a car.

This was heard by the Bulawayo magistrate Sithembiso Ncube when Collen Sibanda (40) appeared before her charged with theft.

He was denying the charge. The court heard that sometime in July 2015 Sibanda allegedly sent the nephew of Mawande Ngozi (73) to steal her $1 700.

The boy stole the money and gave it to him. He used the money to buy a Nissan car. In August 2015 Sibanda sent the boy again to steal more money from his grandmother.

The boy stole $3300 and gave it to him. He allegedly gave the boy $200 as a token.

Ngozi discovered the theft and reported to the police leading to Sibanda's arrest. Only $1 300 was recovered.
