A letter to Sengezo Tshabangu

Dear cousin Sengezo Tshabangu,

I need to explain why I address you as Mzala. Bulawayo is a village, I am sure you could be related to my cousins, Nomusa and Fikile Tshabangu: daughters of Aunt Jenat, the younger sister to my daddy; she married ko Tshabangu. Traditionally speaking, Seka Nomusa was a Sibali to me, hence your name carries a romance of what could have been accepted, had the tradition prevailed back then. U Sibali, u Seka Nomusa Tshabangu left Rhodesia for Zambia and joined the liberation struggle as Zapu cadre in the 1960s. This introduction is necessary to understand why I am concerned about your dangerous and misleading political path: you don't realize you are doing more harm than good nationally. My connection to the name Tshabangu emotionally compels me to give you this advice. However, we have never met before.
 
Sengezo, please stop what you are doing! Stop at once. To align your politics with Zanu Pf is not sustainable. How do you allow yourself to be a pawn, sell the nation for personal gains! The nation needs political and economic change immediately. You stand against progress this nation yearns for. You cannot see that the people want Mnangagwa gone and they start afresh. Enabling Mnangagwa to extend his dismally failed government is an impediment to a change of government. When you see the nation sinking in all aspects of development: the hospitals, the schools, the roads, unemployed youth, no food sovereignty, dilapidated towns and cities, water sanitation is a death trap, some children have no access to education: fees, honestly how do you feel about our nation? Do you think silver coins you get to survive and feed your family are more important than the lives of 16 million? When you receive monthly paycheck; think about the people you deceive, some in shallow graves, unacknowledged by Mnangagwa himself.  
 
Are you comfortable in your skin to be heart and soul, hand in glove with Mnangagwa's wish to extend his rule to 2030? You are not young, you know the person Mnangagwa and all of them in the party and government who perpetrated genocide in Matabeleland in 1980s. Seka Nomusa Tshabangu died in the struggle for independence. He must be turning in his grave; your politics of the stomach has never been the ethos of Zapu right from its inception. What makes you worship silver coins given to you by Mnangagwa more that the people. Sengezo, do you get a peaceful sleep knowing inadequacies in the health services. You are sure you are saying, if my children attend private schools, go to the Avenues Clinics if they are sick; that's important for you personally and never beyond. Are you sure? Uya nyanyisa. Next time you will be showing off how to play a piano with your penis!

You are not selling the dead souls of the people of Matabeleland who perished during the Gukurahundi atrocities only. The national crisis affects all, goes beyond tribal affiliations. The selected few who are in Mnangagwa's bubble benefit enviously. It is for this reason they are given cars and land against the rest to court envy no less: that is the politics of Zanu PF. Are you sure you want to be part of it. Dear Tshabangu, this lifestyle of selling a revolution is never a sustainable way to durable politics, even globally.
First things first: how did you become secretary General of CCC? You are Senator in the scheme of things. How did that happen? Did you win elections ever to become Senator? Have you got the right to appoint Professor Welshman Ncube and Lynett Kerenyi-Gonye to be rotational presidents of CCC? How and why did Professor Ncube accept a junior person in the party to appoint rotational presidents? Who are you deceiving Sibali wami? I want to tell you something for free, dear Tshabangu: you are an embarrassment to Matabeleland. I am saying this not because of tribal affiliation; you are misleading, and you allow yourself to be used by Mnangagwa to betray not only Matabeleland but the nation. If I were you, I would commit suicide and die, rightfully so.

You forget one thing: politics change like the weather changes. Mnangagwa and Zanu will not exist forever. You cannot even gauge that the mood in the country is shaking: Mnangagwa will not be long in power soon: violent political change is certain, will affect you and your family. The political situation cannot remain constant, there is no normality in people's lives. Where in the world does a University Professor get a salary of US$230 a month?  AmaShona athi wona: "Chimwe ne chimwe chinenguva yacho. That applies to you too, Sengezo: you must be scared under normal circumstances.

My letter is short: appealing to your conscience: do you have it, Sengezo? Ndebele people are known for their pride. What happened to your pride? We must be careful when we deal with people especially. Anything that undermines the dignity of mankind is not worth it. I ask you kindly to make a deep introspection, Sengezo. You shake a hand that oozes with blood of the innocent, and if that does not scare you in your sleep then I rest my case.

Sengezo, your connection to Mnangagwa will not go down well for you and your children. You should never have been the pawn: to be sent to do errands that undermine the dignity of mankind. You don' need to have intelligence of Albeit Einstein to realize with Mnangagwa days are numbered: and what about you. You are putting your life on the line to a man of 85 years! Refrain from undermining the dignity of mankind: decent people don't sink this low. Mnangagwa will dump you anytime if politics changed again. Ask comrade Enos Nkala, what happened to him? Again, Callistus Ndlovu, what happened when politics changed. There are many examples to learn from.
