Black Caps in today

THE New Zealand national cricket team is expected to arrive in Harare today ahead of their Test series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

The Black Caps are expected to touch down at the Harare International Airport just after midday and will have their practice sessions tomorrow ahead of a three-day match against Zim A starting on Friday.

The practice match will be played at the Harare Sports Club before the team travels to Bulawayo ahead of the first Test that begins on Thursday.

There is a four day gap between the first and the second Test, with the final one set to start on August 6 at the same venue.

New Zealand have been camped in Pretoria South Africa, where they have been fine tuning for the Zimbabwe series before they return to the same country to face the Proteas.

Zimbabwe will be making their return to Test cricket after about 18 months, having played their last match in the format against Bangladesh in November 2014.

The two nations engaged in three Tests, with Bangladesh winning all of them.

Since then, Zimbabwe have concentrated mainly on limited overs and lost their place on the rankings table, which they will regain with the two matches against New Zealand.

Of the players that played in that series, only Brendan Taylor has left, otherwise, the rest of the players are still doing duty for Zimbabwe.

Some of the players that are expected to feature in the New Zealand Tests played for the Zim A side against South Africa A in two unofficial Tests, which ended in a draw and a win for the neighbouring country.

New Zealand bring a strong side that will be looking to clinch the series, but Zimbabwe will also fancy their chances playing at a Queens Sports Club wicket, where they can tame the Black Caps' dangerous pace bowling.
