THE Zimbabwe Youngg Warriors Under-20 national team that will play Botswana in the first leg of the first round qualifier for the African Championship at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday is expected to start their camp in the city tomorrow.
The Young Warriors went into camp at the Zifa Village last week and the Jairos Tapera-led technical team requested to prepare for the encounter in Bulawayo.
In a telephone interview from Harare, the Young Warriors' team manager Lloyd Chinawa said they should have been in Bulawayo at the weekend.
He said they were hoping to train at least three times at Barbourfields Stadium before they face the Young Zebras.
"Zifa has let us down because we had arranged to travel to Bulawayo last Friday but we heard nothing from the association. We had also arranged to play the Highlanders' reserve on Sunday but since we are here in Harare, that opportunity is gone. Now we are praying that Zifa keeps their word as they promised that we will be in Bulawayo on Tuesday," Chinawa said.
The last time Barbourfields Stadium played host to a national team was in 2010 when South Africa's Amajita came for a friendly match against the Young Warriors.
The Zifa communications manager Nicky Moyo-Dhlamini said the Young Warriors would leave tomorrow for Bulawayo.
"The chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze is out of town and once he gets back, the team will leave. I think they should be heading for Bulawayo tomorrow (today) morning," Moyo-Dhlamini said.
