HIGHLANDERS goalkeeper, Ariel Sibanda who has been ignored by regionalistic national team coach, has thanked his teammates after being voted among the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Soccer Stars of the Year Best 11 in Harare yesterday.

The shot stopper has been in stellar performance for his club in 2018 season, keeping 16 clean sheets.

Posting on his Twitter timeline, Sibanda said: "I'm humbled to be voted as part of the country's best 11 for the 2018 season. I'm thankful to those who recognised me, those who supported me, my teammates, coaches, our sponsors @NetOneCellular and my lovely home, Highlanders FC."

He was the only Highlanders' player selected among the best 11 by panelists made up of sports journalists, team captains and coaches, who met to select those who excelled in the 2018 season.

Despite Highlanders failing to reach their set target of finishing in the top four or winning the Chibuku Super Cup, Sibanda made the cut due to his individual brilliance.

He was joined by Godknows Murwira, Michael Charamba ( Ngezi Platinum), Rodwell Chinyengetere, Kevin Moyo, Farai Madhanhanga (FC Platinum), Joel Ngodzo, Phineas Bamusi (Caps United), Innocent Mucheneka ( Chicken Inn), Lameck Nhamo (Triangle United) among the best 11.

It is the first time Dynamos has failed to be represented in the best 11 since the 2005 season.

Meanwhile, Highlanders gave credit to their shot stopper and Tembo Chuma, the club's goalkeeper coach through Twitter: "Congratulation to our own Ariel Thulani Sibanda for making it into the @CastleLagerPSL Calendar. He kept 16 clean sheets, saved two penalties and scored a goal. Thanks to the technical team, particularly the goalkeepers' coach Tembo Chuma for sharpening the Cat's claws."
