FC Platinum is said to have fired Rahman Gumbo as head coach.
Speculation is rife today that Tendai Chikuni was immediately appointed interim head coach.
Cash rich and star studded Zvishavane side lost to Monomotapa 2-0 at the weekend.
After the loss, FC Platinum are on third position with 21 points from 12 games.
They have won 6, drawn 3 with three defeats.
Gumbo's job has always been under threat since the season began but already began the season on bright side when he beat Swaziland Premiership kings Green Mamba in a Champions League preliminary round.
FC Platinum's flirtation with the Champions League on their debut in the tournament however ended following a first round 3-2 aggregate defeat by Sudanese giants El Merreikh.
The miners have already bagged two domestic cups, the Bob 88 cup and the Independence Cup.
Last year, former Highlander FC coach failed to clinch the league title after his side lost momentum in the last games.
Before joining the Zvishavane based club last year, Gumbo was head coach of Botswana side Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
Gumbo replaced the late Benjamin "Zidane" Moyo who mysteriously died in April at a swimming pool in Shurugwi.
Gumbo, popularity known as "Rush" boasts of winning league titles with Highlanders in 1999 and 2000 before he migrated to Malawi where he won the championship with MTL Wanderers.
Gumbo has also coached Caps United and Motor Action.
