Govt unveils US$5 million small scale miners facility

The government has unveiled a US$5 million artisanal and small scale miners equipment facility with the aim of capacitating the small scale miners towards increased gold production.
The small scale miners remain critical in the revitalisation of the mining sector and government has demonstrated its desire to grow the sub-sector with the launch of a US$5 million scheme under the US$100 million facility by the chinese mining equipment manufacturer, XCMG.
Guest of honour at the Zimbabwe Miners Federation Mine Entra Conference, Mines and Mining Development Minister Walter Chidhakwa highlighted that government prioritises the development of the sub-sector through the provision of relevant technical and financial support.
The cabinet minister expressed confidence that with the necessary support, the mining industry will consolidate its status as the anchor of the economy.
The small scale miners who graced the Mine Entra Conference expressed confidence the facility will go a long way in improving their operations and ensure that they contribute to the realisation of the targeted 24 tonnes of gold by December 2016.
