Zimbabwe rolls out new contraceptive

The Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) has introduced a new contraceptive - Sayana Press - to widen family planning options.
The new contraceptive, which is manufactured in Belgium, is an injection that lasts for three months.
It can be self-administered.
ZNFPC executive director Dr Munyaradzi Murwira said the rollout has since begun.
"It is safe and has been approved by the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ). It is currently registered and approved by regulatory authorities in more than 50 countries worldwide, including in Europe and USA," he said.
