MEMBERS of the Zimbabwe National Army and the Zimbabwe Republic Police have besieged Bulawayo's Tredgold Magistrate Courts after information leaked the prosecutors and magistrates were planning a demonstration, we exclusively reveal.

When our correspondent visited the Courts today, scores of AK47 wielding solders were seen sauntering around the courts and some police details in riot gear were also present.

Everyone who entered the building's doors was subjected to a thorough search and asked to produce their Zimbabwean national identity card.

Even airtime vendors that usually sit outside the building were "cleared" by the unfriendly forces.

A prosecutor who spoke on condition of anonymity said:

"We are working with some CIO moles here. Just after finishing a meeting where we agreed to march into the city, we saw police and soldiers coming. This is not going to stop us and sooner than latter these guys (army and police) will know that they are civil servants also and they need better money," he said.

A magistrate added: "Whether the regime wants it or not, we will demonstrate because it is our fundamental right."

No official comment could be obtained.

Magistrates and prosecutors are on nationwide strike for better wages and working conditions.
