A storm has been brewing in the second largest city of Zimbabwe Bulawayo as residents express their anger over an unsolicited bid by Harare based city parking to take over parking space in Bulawayo.
Residents and pressure groups in Bulawayo have condemned the move to consider the Harare based City Parking at the expense of Bulawayo based companies.
Recent news articles indicated that four Bulawayo city councillors were wined and dined by the Harare company in a bid to solicit for their support towards the parking bid.
It has been revealed with irrefutable evidence that Councillors Sikhululekile Moyo of Ward 17, Mlandu Ncube of ward 1, Frank Javangwe of ward 13 and Sinikiwe Mutanda of Ward 10 were wined and dined at a Harare hotel from the 9th to the 17th of May 2019 at the expense of City Parking.
Another source from South Africa said Mlandu Ncube discussed some of the details of the deal at the Mecure Hotel in Bedfordview in Johannesburg recently.
A source from Harare also alleged that the Mayor of Bulawayo Councillor Solomon Mguni was flown into Harare to attend a meeting to discuss the parking bid.
Bulawayo residents are now up in arms and blaming the Deputy Mayor Tinashe Kambarami for the City Parking debacle, yet records show that he did not attend the said meeting neither was he hosted by Harare's City Parking.
A Bulawayo based activist who spoke on condition of anonymity said the residents need to confront the Mayor also and the not only confront the Deputy Mayor.
This publication was furnished with hotel receipts and check-in confirmations which prove that the mentioned councillors were hosted by Harare based City Parking to discuss the takeover of Bulawayo parking space.
