THE Civil Protection Unit (CPU) has urged people living in low lying and flood-prone areas in Matabeleland North Province to relocate amid fears of flash floods.
The rains which are pounding in various parts of the country have left several areas at risk of flash floods.
Areas that are prone to flash floods such as Binga, Tsholotsho and Hwange are the most vulnerable.
"I want to urge all people living in flood-prone low lying areas to move to higher ground while there is still time," said Tapera Mugoriya, Matebeleland North Acting PDC.
Floods have in the past wreaked havoc in low lying areas, with about 1500 people having been displaced during the 2017 flash floods in Tsholotsho.
