A 28-year-old man from Mbembesi assaulted a 70-year-old security guard with his gun all over the body after he mistakenly lit his torch on him.
The accused, David Mguni, was remanded in custody by the Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa to 12 April.
The allegations against the perpetrator are that on 23 March 2022, the complainant, Japhet Zulu was on duty at Fingo shopping centre in Mbembesi where he was guarding and in possession of gun.
While on duty he noticed some movements and went on to use a torch to see what was happening. Japhet then went on to lit the accused person who was in the company of his friends.
This did not go well with the accused person who then went on to take the complainant's empty gun and used it to assault the complainant all over his body until the gun was broken.
The complainant sustained serious injuries, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
