The ZIMBABWE Electoral Commission (Zec) in Bulawayo last week started a voter registration second blitz after conducting a staff training.

Zec Bulawayo Provincial Elections Officer Innocent Ncube said they conducted training ahead of the blitz that started on April 11.

Ncube said on April 1, the registrar's office began the exercise of helping those who do not have proper documentation so as to be able to register to vote.

He said the hope is that this time the process will be different considering the fact that in the last blitz many people had a problem of not having the correct documentation.

The last biometric voter registration (BVR) blitz was marred by apathy with several potential registrants claiming that they were being turned away due to lack of documentation.

Zec set up 2 700 registration centres for the first and second blitz running from  February2 to 28, and April 11 to 30 respectively.
