On Tuesday, Sybeth Musengezi, a Zanu-PF supporter who challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa's rise to the party presidency, appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda for trial.
Musengezi was accused of fraudulently obtaining a Zanu-PF membership card by allegedly providing false information about his address.
The State called Godwills Masimirembwa, the Zanu-PF provincial chairperson for Harare, who testified that Musengezi had indeed provided a false address in his membership application.
Musengezi's defense argued that the case was politically motivated, stemming from his challenge to Mnangagwa's presidency in the High Court.
The trial was adjourned until October 18.
