Bouncer attacks police at roadblock

Glenview-based bouncer Romio Jowo was dragged to Concession magistrates courts yesterday after he assaulted a top cop at a roadblock.
The 38-year-old Jowo appeared before magistrate Charity Maunga who remanded him to December 4 on US$200 bail.
The state led by Munyaradzi Nengomasha alleges on October 25 at around 7pm a team of eight police officers were manning a roadblock in Mazowe.
There was a long que after a haulage truck blocked all vehicles since it was not engaging gears.
The suspect who was driving a Mazda Bongo tried to jump the que and was stopped by one officer.
He became angry and a misunderstanding arose.
Jowo grabbed one cop by the collar and a team leader of the police sergeant Rudo Chipezeze (38) tried to refrain the suspect who was aggressive.
He pushed her and grabbed her by the collar, police officers failed to arrest him.
A motorist in a Toyota GD6 stopped and a number of men disembarked to render manpower for Jowo to be arrested.
