Two young men from Bulawayo have been remanded in custody after allegedly launching a violent attack on a fellow imbiber during a beer hall altercation.
Thabo Phuti (19) and Eric Moyo (21) appeared before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, facing assault charges stemming from a September 14 incident in which they reportedly attacked Artwell Sibanda with a screwdriver and a stick.
The state, led by Sheila Nyathi, alleged that the confrontation began when Sibanda, who was drinking with friends, accidentally stepped on Phuti's leg, triggering a violent response.
Phuti allegedly teamed up with Moyo and stabbed Sibanda in the back with a screwdriver before beating him with a stick.
Sibanda sustained a back wound, a swollen face, and multiple bruises across his body. The duo was remanded in custody until October 20.
