A 30-year-old man from Glendale, Prince Dandamera, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder for violently assaulting his neighbour with a hoe.
The sentence was handed down by Bindura Regional Magistrate Elisha Singano on Thursday.
According to Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo, the incident occurred on September 3 at stand number 3339 in Nhano area, where Dandamera was involved in a heated dispute with Henry Mufandadza over ownership of the property.
During the altercation, Mufandadza's 65-year-old wife, Emmi, attempted to intervene and stop the assault. Dandamera then turned on her, picked up a hoe, and severely bashed her, only stopping when she lost consciousness.
A police report was filed, leading to Dandamera's arrest and prosecution.
The court found him guilty of attempted murder and sentenced him to five years behind bars.
