Government Revenue Collections Surpass Expenditure in 2025

HARARE - The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has announced that Government revenue collections for the period January to September 2025 exceeded expenditure, reflecting improved fiscal performance.
In a statement released via its official X account, the Ministry revealed that revenue collections during the nine‑month period amounted to ZiG156.3 billion, compared to expenditures of ZiG152.5 billion.
"On a cash basis, revenues which exceeded expenditures by ZiG3.7 billion were utilised for partial repayment of some of the outstanding Government loan obligations," the Ministry said.
It further noted that in US dollar terms, revenue collections stood at US$5.9 billion, against expenditures of US$5.7 billion.
The development highlights Government's efforts to strengthen fiscal discipline and reduce debt obligations while maintaining expenditure within sustainable limits.
