HIGHLANDERS suffered a double loss in the Chibuku Super Cup encounter against Harare City after less than 800 fans paid to watch them being downed 1-2 by Harare City at Mandava Stadium on Sunday.

The situation was worsened by an FC Platinum security officer, who allegedly closed the gates well before halftime without authority from Highlanders officials as the Bulawayo giants were the "home" team.

Bosso lost the encounter and it was a double blow as only 788 fans paid to watch the duel, with treasurer Donald Ndebele saying the attendance was their worst this season.

He did not have kind words for the FC Platinum security officer.

"The guy just closed the gates without informing us as the home team and that obviously had a negative effect on the attendance figures as some people could not gain access. We made a huge loss in this game as a result," said Ndebele.

Unlike the norm with other cup competitions, clubs took care of their travelling costs and it was not immediately clear whether the sponsors Delta Beverages will reimburse them.

"We met our own expenses in as far as travelling was concerned and for now we are not sure whether the sponsor will reimburse us," said Ndebele.

Bosso were also unable to pay for the 40 police details as well as match referees.
