Cape Town √ɬ¢√¢‚Äö¬¨" South African movie Man on Ground  has won the Best Ensemble Cast at the Monaco Charity Film Festival, reports Sowetanlive.

The cast includes Fabian Adeoye, Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Fana Mokoena.

The movie, which previously picked up awards at the Berlin Film Festival and the Jozi Film Festival, was written and directed by Akin Amotoso, an actor who has appeared in Blood Diamond and TV drama Generations.

According to Sowetan, the movie was inspired by the real life xenophobic attacks that took place in the East Rand in 2008.

Man on Ground tells the story of Femi (Adeoye), a young Nigerian refugee living in Johannesburg who disappears after xenophobic attacks are carried out against other African foreign nationals by the locals.

His brother, Ade (Kae-Kazim) a successful banker in London, returns to South Africa to search for Femi, reconstructing the pieces of his everyday life and the cruel hardships he endured just to survive.
