The National Peace and Reconciliation Council of Zimbabwe (NPRC) has started to engage all stakeholders to encourage peace and tolerance among all citizens as the nation gears up for the March 26 by elections.
NPRC Spokesperson, Obert Gutu said they are cultivating a level ground to curb skirmishes amongst citizens.
"This is a devotional national education campaign for free and tolerance of one another in preparation for by elections. We want to reach out to stakeholders, contestants, business leaders and the community at large to encourage them to live peacefully , shun violence and hate speech," he said.
Gutu said NPRC is in partnership with the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission and Zimbabwe Gender Commission to enforce early warning mechanisms of peace and tranquility in society.
There has been a realisation of contestations in political parties whereby chaotic scenes loom ahead of elections characterised by vote buying, violence, rigging and intimidation.
