BENEFICIARIES of government constructed houses at Beitbridge reportedly started occupying them after they were commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently.
This was despite reports that some of the houses were destroyed by strong winds soon after they were commissioned.
Last year four of the 28 government staff houses commissioned by Mnangagwa in Beitbridge had their roofs damaged during a hail storm just hours after the official ceremony.
Town mayor Munyaradzi Chitsunge said the houses have now been allocated and we have reconnected water to the houses.
"However, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has connected water to the houses," he said.
This comes after some residents claimed that the houses were still unoccupied.
The 28 new houses are a part of 52 house built so far to accommodate government workers in the border town.
The government is promising to construct 220 000 houses before 2025.
