Cops arrest rape, robbery, theft suspect

A man aged 32 has been arrested while hiding at a disused building near Magwegwe shopping centre for cases of rape, robbery and theft of copper cables.
This was confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube in a statement.
He said police arrested Thubelihle Ndlovu( 32) of old Magwegwe in connection with rape, robbery and theft of copper cables cases.
"On February 26 around 6pm a 37-year-old woman from Lobengula West was on her way to work using a footpath going through a bushy area opposite Ingwegwe primary school when she was grabbed by Ndlovu and robbed her of her Samsung grand prime cellphone, cash amounting to $300 and raped her at knifepoint," he said.
"On February 26 a 5:15 am a female aged 39, of Magwegwe West was walking alone along Intemba road on her way to work and while approaching a curve near Intemba bus stop, Ndlovu approached the woman from behind and strangled her using his hands."
Ncube said Ndlovu pulled the victim to a nearby bush area, tripped her to the ground threatening to kill her and afterwards raped her.
He then robbed her of cash amounting to US$10 and R100 and reports were made in both cases.
"Police received a tip-off this week from an anonymous caller who revealed that the accused person was staying in a hideout at an abandoned building behind New Magwegwe shopping centre," Ncube said.
"Police raided Ndlovu's hideout where they located him hiding under an old bed. He was then positively identified by both victims."
Ncube said the suspect admitted to have stolen copper cables at Sauerstown and National Railways of Zimbabwe complex Bulawayo and he was on the run.
