Former Zimbabwe international goalkeeper George Chigova died of a heart ailment at the age of 32 on Wednesday.
The former Dynamos, Polokwane City and SuperSport United shot stopper suffered a heart attack during training in July this year that put him out of action until his death.
His death was announced just hours before Zimbabwe were to play Rwanda in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in Kigali. Warriors players wore black armbands to mourn Rahman Gumbo who died in Botswana last Friday.
Just like Gumbo, Chigova reportedly collapsed and died at his home in South Africa.
Chigova is a product of the Aces Youth Soccer Academy in Harare which produced great stars like Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
The football star will be remembered for his heroic penalty saves when he featured for the Warriors during a 2018 COSAFA Cup quarter-final in South Africa.
Chigova saved three penalties in the shootout as the Warriors booked a semi-final place with a 4-1 victory over the hosts that followed a tense 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes.
