Mnangagwa delivers key resources to extension officers

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is today presiding over a high-level ceremony dedicated to empowering the nation's Agriculture Extension Officers, popularly known as Madhumeni, as part of the Government's ongoing efforts to bolster food security and agricultural development in Zimbabwe.

The event, currently underway, features the official handover of a fleet of vehicles, grain carriers, and solar kits to these frontline agricultural professionals. The initiative is a clear signal of the Second Republic's commitment to equipping extension officers with the tools and support they need to effectively serve farming communities across the country.

"Our Madhumeni are the unsung heroes of national food security," President Mnangagwa said in his address. "By empowering them, we are strengthening our agricultural base and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for millions of Zimbabweans."

The support package aims to improve mobility, facilitate timely delivery of agricultural inputs, and promote environmentally friendly technologies in rural farming areas through the use of solar energy.

Agriculture Extension Officers play a critical role in advising farmers on best practices, climate-smart agriculture, pest control, and crop diversification - all of which are essential to building resilience in the face of climate change and economic challenges.
