An 11-year marriage between Oripa Chapwanya Ngibe, 41, and Kudakwashe Ngibe, 51, has ended after intimate photographs of Oripa and her married workmate, identified only as Hora, surfaced, revealing an extramarital affair.
The discovery of the photographs, which in some instances showed Oripa nearly naked, prompted Kudakwashe to seek counsel from their church leaders. Oripa initially apologised and vowed to end the affair, but the relationship with Hora continued, leading Kudakwashe to leave the marital home last month.
In a confrontation, Kudakwashe approached Hora and his wife, Mona, who reportedly demanded the photographs to pursue legal action for adultery damages. Both couples remain legally married, and the couple's youngest child, in Grade 3, has been affected by the turmoil.
Oripa admitted to the affair, acknowledging her role in the betrayal while blaming her husband's actions for pushing her toward Hora. "I do not deny that I was involved with Hora until my husband found out," she said. "We tried to address this with our church elders, but the issue kept resurfacing."
Kudakwashe spoke candidly about the emotional toll of the betrayal. "We were happily married, sharing our lives and attending church together. I never imagined my wife would betray me," he said. He recounted instances where Oripa misled him about working late while engaging in the affair.
He added, "My wife apologised after I discovered the truth, but it felt insincere. She has shown herself to be too immoral to be a wife and mother. Imagine a married woman posing for half-naked photos and sending them to another man-it's not just wrong, it's devastating."
The scandal has left both families grappling with the emotional and legal implications of the affair.
