A sales manager at a leading beverages manufacturing company in Bulawayo has appeared in court over allegations of stealing US$11,888 and converting it for personal use.
Esther Manunure (31) faced charges of theft of trust property at Bulawayo Magistrates Court. According to the prosecution, between 10 and 19 September 2025, Manunure, employed as a sales manager at Varum Beverages, was entrusted with company products and tasked with collecting payments from clients and remitting the cash to the company.
Court proceedings revealed that Manunure allegedly collected US$11,888 from various clients but failed to remit the funds, instead unlawfully converting the money for her own use. Authorities confirmed that none of the alleged stolen amount has been recovered to date.
Manunure was granted US$100 bail under certain conditions and is scheduled to return to court on 16 October 2025 for routine remand.
The case highlights concerns over internal controls and accountability within corporate sales operations, as well as the need for robust monitoring mechanisms to prevent misappropriation of company funds.
