Chikomba West Member of Parliament and Minister of ICT, Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, has actively engaged her constituency on issues of digital empowerment and youth development.

According to a post by government-aligned X (formerly Twitter) user C.H. Mukungunugwa, Mavetera spent the day visiting schools and launching initiatives aimed at building a smarter Zimbabwe by 2030.

"Chikomba West Member of Parliament, Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, spent a productive day engaging with her constituency. At Chamukwenjera Primary School in Manyene Ward 5, Hon. Mavetera joined Free Code Africa, an initiative led by local youth, Munodawafa, for the launch of a free digital skills and coding training programme," read the post.

She commended the initiative, emphasising that technology and AI are vital tools for the future, and that every child — whether from rural or urban areas - must be equipped with these skills.

Later in the day, at Riversdale Boarding School’s Prize Giving Ceremony in Ward 1, Mavetera addressed students on the importance of discipline, focus, and self-respect. She urged them to reject drug abuse and early sexual relationships, stressing that young people’s dreams are valuable and must be protected.

"Mavetera also officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for a new A-Level block at Riversdale and toured ongoing development projects at the school. She expressed pride in the passion and potential shown by learners across Chikomba West, reaffirming her commitment to education, digital empowerment, and a smarter Zimbabwe by 2030," the post added.
