Zanu‑PF Buhera South legislator Ngonidzashe Mudekunye is reportedly bullying residents in Manicaland, boasting that he is protected because of his alleged close links to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's family.
Mudekunye is said to have a long record of violent conduct in his constituency, with provincial party leaders reportedly aware of his behaviour.
He was arrested last month for allegedly assaulting a female security guard at Birchenough Bridge, but has since been telling people that "nothing will happen" to him because he is "a darling of the First Family".
The MP is also accused of impregnating a young FAZ member and allegedly using his influence to intimidate community members. District leaders in Buhera say they fear him, claiming he often deploys youths to harass them.
Contacted for comment, Mudekunye dismissed the allegations.
"Write whatever you want. I have no comment," he said.
Mudekunye is currently facing a public violence charge alongside five others, with the case pending before the Chimanimani Magistrates' Court.
