Douglas Boateng, a professor in supply and value chain management, said that the government was compromising the country's future by mortgaging the country's mineral wealth.
He said that most countries Zimbabwe is getting into these deals with are in it for their people while Zimbabwe's decisions are mostly short term and will not benefit future generations.
Nadia Piffaretti, a senior economist with the World Bank, also said Zimbabwe should seek loans at concessionary rates instead of securitising its minerals to secure loans.
