Dynamos bite the dust against Monomutapa
15 Apr 2012 at 12:30hrs | Views
A LATE strike by Monomotapa striker Tawanda Nyamandwe handed Dynamos their first defeat of the season in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Rufaro on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, the former Motor Action striker decided the contest at the stroke of full time, coolly taping in a cross from Kuda Musharu.
The win took Taurai Mangwiro's men to the summit of the league table.
Dynamos went into the match after a flying start to the season which saw them mauling premiership debutantes Hardbody 3-0 in their season opener.
But Monomotapa made a bold statement of intent in the first half with skipper Nyamandwe finding the back of the nets after 10 minutes only for his effort to be ruled offside.
Dynamos also had a decent chance moments later when midfielder, Denver Mukamba, hit the side of the net after he was set up by Devon Chafa.
Dynamos 0 - 1 Monomotapa
Black Mambas 0 - 1 Buffaloes
Chicken Inn 2 - 0 Quelaton
Harare City 2 - 1 Gunners
Today's matches
Highlanders 15 : 00 Hardbody
Shabanie Mine 15 : 00 Blue Rangers
Motor Action 15 : 00 CAPS United
Hwange 15 : 00 Platinum
Today there is confusion as to the venue for the Motor Action, Caps United match as Zifa wanted the match played at Gwanzura while Motor Action's home ground is Calliers.
There were underhand manoeuvres and interference from a senior Zifa official yesterday to move Motor Action to Rufaro while confining Dynamos to the NSS.
But the PSL, under the leadership of chairman Twine Phiri and his chief executive Kennedy Ndebele decided each team should stick to its home ground.
Caps United is reported to have apparently travelled to Gwanzura and Motor Action are waiting for them at Callies, we will keep you informed of any new developments.
