The revived Zapu national council member, Effort Nkomo has dumped the party and gone back to Zanu-PF to "devote his time on Joshua Nkomo National Foundation."

Nkomo, was Bulawayo provincial spokesperson before he defected in 2008 to join Dumiso Dabengwa.

However, Nkomo says he "asked to leave" the party to concentrate on the Joshua Nkomo National Foundation.

"All along I have been working for the Joshua Nkomo National Foundation. I have asked to leave the position in Zapu to devote all my time to the foundation, which is linked to Zanu-PF," said Nkomo.
However, it is understood Nkomo together with Tryhine Nhliziyo who has also left Zapu are said to be already welcomed in Zanu-PF structures.

"They would be unveiled to the rest of the party members at a provincial conference to be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds at the end of this month."

Nhliziyo could not come out in the open on her defection saying she is concentrating on church business, the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
