President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made a fresh round of ambassadorial appointments, deploying senior diplomats to represent Zimbabwe in several strategic countries.
According to the latest Government Gazette Extraordinary, Patrick Ronald Mutasa has been appointed Zimbabwe's Ambassador to Cuba, while veteran diplomat Lovemore Mazemo takes up the influential post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to South Africa.
Isaac Annanias Moyo, former Director-General of the Central Intelligence Organisation, has been named Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move seen as strengthening ties with the Gulf state.
Meanwhile, David Douglas Hamadziripi has been reappointed as Zimbabwe's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America, where he has been serving in Washington since 2020.
The appointments were made under section 110(2)(i), read with section 204, of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 20) Act, 2013.
The diplomatic changes come as Harare continues efforts to re-engage with the international community, attract investment, and consolidate bilateral relations with key global partners.
